As competition among UAE free zones has intensified, several authorities have introduced faster and more flexible licensing products designed to reduce setup friction for founders. Instant licence products generally allow a qualifying business to receive licence approval within a very short timeframe, often the same day, provided the chosen activity and documentation meet a simplified review standard.

Dual licence arrangements, offered by a number of free zones in partnership with mainland economic departments, generally allow a free zone company to also obtain a complementary mainland licence, enabling it to trade both within its free zone and more broadly across the UAE mainland market without establishing an entirely separate mainland entity.

These newer products can be particularly useful for founders who want the cost efficiency and streamlined setup associated with free zone registration, while still retaining the ability to serve mainland clients directly, a combination that was historically harder to achieve without maintaining two fully separate companies.
