Choosing your company name — three options explained
Why the form asks for three preferred names instead of one, and how to pick good ones.
The application asks for three preferred company names, ranked in order of preference. This isn't a Codeeo requirement — it reflects how UAE free zone and mainland authorities actually process name approvals.
Authorities reject a name if it's already registered, too similar to an existing trademark, or includes restricted words (like "Group," "International," or religious/government terms) without additional approval. Having two backups means that if your first choice is rejected, the authority — or our team — can move straight to your second or third preference instead of pausing your whole application to ask you for a new one.
Good names to submit avoid restricted words, aren't identical to a well-known existing brand, and ideally relate to your business activity — though this last point is a preference, not a rule.
Your final approved name is confirmed as part of the "Approved" stage of your application, and will appear on your trade licence.
